How can customers still use hotel electricity without a hotel key card?

I want to ask you something. I am interested in your cardless hotel door entry lock products.

But there’s something I don’t understand. If we have installed hotel key card power switches in the hotel room,  the customers will have to use the key card and insert it into the key card power switch to use hotel electricity.

But How and Why can customers still use hotel electricity without a hotel key card?

I understand your question, but before answering your question, I must first explain the working principle and type of the hotel’s power switch.

Generally speaking, Hotel key card power switches are designed to save energy. When guests enter their room and insert their hotel key card into the power switch, it activates the room’s electricity, allowing lights, air conditioning, and other amenities to function.

When the guest leaves and takes the key card, the electricity is turned off after a delay, ensuring energy isn’t wasted when the room is unoccupied.

If the customer does not insert his room card or uses other cards such as paper cards, business cards, and other cards inserted into the power switch, power can be supplied to the room. At this time, it is important to focus on the type of power switch.

There are generally four types of power switches according to the current use conditions in hotels.

  • Temic card power switch. For the temic power switch, all other temic cards can be used for this switch, even if this card cannot be used to open hotel locks.
  • Mifare power switch, same as above, all RFID cards with mifare protocol can be used to power the room.
  • Photoelectric coupling power switch. This is the most common power switch. Insert any card to power the room.
  • 1VS1 power switch: Note that this key card power switch requires a room card that can open the hotel door lock to power the room after insertion. It strictly follows the 1-to-1 mode and is slightly more expensive.

Based on the above, if your room uses a non-1-to-1 power switch, guests can still use other cards that match your power switch type to draw power. Then, if your hotel uses a photoelectric coupling switch, inserting any card can also draw power, and there is no possibility of saving energy in the hotel’s power supply.

I hope my answer is ok for you.
