Kaba 760 lock system flashes red and green When I slide the key card

I have the Kaba 760 lock system. When I slide the key card, the lock flashes red and green together, green and then red again. When I slide the Programming card after that, it flashes red and green together, and then red. Why does this happen? How do I fix this?

The behavior of your Kaba 760 lock system, as indicated by the specific sequences of red and green lights, provides valuable diagnostic information. Here’s a breakdown of what each light pattern means and how you can address the issues:

  1. Flashing Green & Red (Low Battery Indicator): This indicates that the batteries in the lock are running low and should be replaced. After replacing the batteries, check if the lock returns to normal operation.
  2. Green then Red (Lock Not Programmed or Card Misread): This pattern suggests that the lock may not be properly programmed or the card was misread. Try swiping the card again, ensuring it’s clean and undamaged. If the issue persists, reprogram the lock or re-encode the key card.
  3. Single Green then Red (Passage Activated and Out of Time Zone): This indicates that the key card was recognized, but the attempt to unlock was made outside the allowed time zone programmed for the card. Check the time zone settings for the card and adjust if necessary.
  4. Green and Red Together (Single Flash) then Red (Unsuccessful Initialization): This pattern suggests an issue with the lock initialization process. Try re-initializing the lock, ensuring that the process is completed without interruption.
  5. Green and Red Together (Single Flash for 6 Seconds) (Test Card): This indicates that a test card is being used. If you’re intentionally using a test card, this is normal. If not, ensure you’re using the correct key card.

Handling lock systems requires careful attention to detail and adherence to security protocols. Ensure any changes are documented and align with your property’s security policies.
