Switching the WiFi connection on your Kwikset Halo Lock is a straightforward process. Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you through the process:
1. Deleting Old WiFi Settings from Halo Lock
Before connecting to a new WiFi network, removing the previous network details from your lock is essential. And you can delete your old Wi-Fi settings in three ways.
a. Network Reset
Network Reset will delete all Wi-Fi settings, Bluetooth pairings, user associations, and remove the lock from the account.
- Press and HOLD “A” for 10 seconds. You will hear one short beep and see an amber LED. Note: After 3 seconds, you will hear one short beep and see a blue LED. It would be best if you continued to hold “A” to enter the network reset mode.
- Press and release the program button to confirm the network reset. The Program button must be pressed within 10 seconds of releasing “A,” or the function will time out.
- If successful, you will hear 1longbeep and see a green LED. If unsuccessful, you will hear five rapid beeps and see a blinking red LED. If unsuccessful, repeat from step 1
b. Using the Kwikset Home App to Erase WiFi Settings
- Launch the Kwikset Home App app.
- Navigate to your connected locks.
- Select the Halo lock you wish to modify.
- Tap the gear icon and choose ‘Wi-Fi settings’ (if available).
- Disconnect the lock from the current WiFi.
c. Factory Reset of the Halo Lock
Factory reset Kwikset halo lock will delete all Wi-Fi settings, Bluetooth pairings, and user associations, remove the lock from the account, and reset all lock settings, including handling.
- Delete the lock from the Kwikset app.
- Remove the lock from the Bluetooth list on your device by tapping “Forget Device” in the Bluetooth settings.
- Remove the battery pack.
- Press and HOLD the Program button while reinserting the battery pack. Hold the button for 30 seconds until the lock beeps Status and the Status LED flashes red.

- Press the Program button once more. The LED will flash green and red, and the auto-handing process will begin.
- The latch will retract and extend to learn the orientation of the door. The LED will flash green if auto-handling is successful or red if auto-handling is unsuccessful.
2. Connecting Halo Lock to a New WiFi Network
Once you’ve cleared old WiFi details, it’s time to connect your lock to a new network.
a. Using the Kwikset App
- Ensure your lock is in pairing mode (hold the program button for 5 seconds until it beeps and flashes red).
- Open the Halo app.
- Tap the “+” icon to add a new lock.
- Select your desired Wi-Fi network and input the password.
- After a few moments, the lock will establish a connection, and you can now control your Halo Lock via your smartphone.
