Yale Lock is a famous brand of electronic door locks. It’s easy to use, but what if you lose your code? Don’t worry! In most cases, the code can be reset without damaging the lock or calling a locksmith.

In this article, you will learn how to reset the Yale door lock code without the master code simply and quickly.

There is little difference for Yale door locks when you reset your Yale door lock code without a master code. But for most Yale door locks, you can reset the Yale door lock code without the master code in the following steps:

• Remove the battery cover, batteries, and interior escutcheon one by one.
• Find the reset button beside the PCB cable connector.
• Reinstall the batteries while pressing the reset button (minimum of 3 seconds). Release the reset button.

Now, let’s introduce how to reset the door lock code without a master code for different Yale locks.

Reset the Nest Yale lock code

Nest Yale lock reset master code is easy:

1. Remove the battery cover and batteries.
2. Remove the inside of the lock to access the reset button.
3. The reset button (see image at right) is located on the left side of the PCB cable connector.
4. Reinstall the batteries while pressing the reset button (minimum of 3 seconds). Release the reset button. Lock responds with, “Hi  from Yale and Nest.”
5. Replace the battery cover.

Reset the Yale Assure lock code

Because Yale Assure lock has a lot of different models, Yale Assure factory reset will be a little different.

Yale Assure Lock YRL216, YRL226, YRL236 and YRL256 factory reset

1. Remove the battery cover and batteries.
2. Remove the inside lock to access the reset button.
3. The reset button (see image above) is marked.
4. Re-insert three batteries and hold the reset button for 3 seconds.
5. While holding the reset button, insert the 4th battery and hold the reset button for 3 seconds.
6. Release the reset button.
7. Reinstall the inside lock on the door.

Yale Assure Lock YRD216/YRD416/YRD226/YRD620/YRD622/YRD256/YRD456 factory reset

1. Remove the battery cover and batteries.
2. Remove the interior escutcheon to access the reset button.
3. The reset button (see image at right) is beside the PCB cable connector.
4. Reinstall the batteries while pressing the reset button (minimum of 3 seconds). Release the reset button.
5. Replace the battery cover.

Reset the Yale Real Living locks

The Yale Real Living series has three models: Yale Real Living push button deadbolt YRD210, Yale Real Living key accessible touchscreen deadbolt YRD240, and Yale Real Living key free push button YRD110.

Yale Real Living deadbolt YRD210/YRD240 factory reset

1. Remove the battery cover and batteries.
2. Remove the interior escutcheon to access the reset button.
3. The reset button (see image at right) is above the PCB cable connector.
4. Reinstall the batteries while pressing the reset button (minimum of 3 seconds). Release the reset button.
5. Replace the battery cover.

Yale Real Living deadbolt YRD110 factory reset

1. Remove the battery cover.
2. Remove the batteries.
3. Reinstall the batteries while pressing the reset button (minimum of 3 seconds). Release the reset button.
4. Replace the battery cover.

Reset the Yale Smart Living Lock

Yale smart living key-free digital door lock uses the latest technology to make your home safer and much easier.

To Factory reset the Yale Smart Living Keyfree Connected smart lock without the master code:

1. Slide up the black plastic cover of the lock inside the door. Remove inside cover
2. Remove a battery from inside the lock. Then, remove the module.
3. Unscrew the two screws on the back to remove the rear cover.
4. Disconnect the cable that runs to the exterior half of the lock.
5. Press and hold the [I] button and [P] button. Continue holding the buttons and insert the battery.
6. Wait for 10 seconds; a two-tone sound will be heard.
7. Release the [I] and [P] buttons
8. Within 5 seconds of the two-tone sound, reconnect the cable to the exterior escutcheon. The lock will play a three-tone ascending tone and say, “Welcome to the Yale digital world.” The master code is now set to 123456.

If you have connected your Yale lock with the Yale Access app, you can also reset your Yale lock with the Yale Access app; no need for mater code.
