[Solved] Onity Key Card Encoder not Working
I currently work in a medium sized hotel and our hotel has an Onity hotel lock system and use Onity HT22 locks, but today, the Onity keycard encoder can not work and does not issue key cards correctly. Please let me know the reason and how to fix it.
Our hotel also uses the ONITY hotel lock system, but the card issuer has never broken down. You may contact ONTIY's official customer service to solve it if it doesn't work.
But as far as I know, Onity no longer produces and maintains the ONITY HT22 series of hotel locks. If the official customer service cannot solve it for you, then it is recommended that you buy a working ONITY card issuer from the second-hand market.
If your Onity key card encoder can not work and does not issue key cards correctly for Onity HT22 locks, here are three quick troubleshooting tips:
Check the Key Card: The issue may be due to a dirty or damaged key card. Try using a new or clean key card to rule this out as a possible problem.
Clean the Encoder's Writer/Reader: The writer or reader in the encoder could be dirty. Use a cleaning card specifically designed for card readers, or gently blow canned air to remove dust or debris from the slot.
Ensure Proper Insertion of the Key Card: Ensure you are inserting the key card correctly into the encoder. Follow the correct orientation as per the manufacturer's instructions to avoid reading errors.
If the issue persists, consider more advanced troubleshooting, such as checking the device's connections or software configuration.
Yes, first of all, it is not necessarily a problem with the Onity Key Card Encoder itself. You need to make sure you are using the correct card. If the card is correct and the encoder has been cleaned but still does not work, please try the following solution steps.
Check Connections: Ensure that all cables, including the 9-pin serial cable, are securely connected. The serial cable should go from the encoder to the portable programmer if you use a portable device for encoding.
Encoder Software Setup: Verify that the Onity software (such as Integra or OnPortal) is installed and correctly configured. The system must be connected via an ethernet cable as WiFi often doesn't support the connection.
Magstripe Density: Make sure the card encoder is set to high magstripe density. If it's set incorrectly (low density), the cards won’t encode properly and will cause errors.
I'm not sure what specific error codes you get when encoding, but in my experience, if you get several encoding errors every time you try to encode a magnetic key card, I would clean the encoder's read head with a cleaning card purchased from Onity, insert and remove the card a few times and it will fix the problem.
Or use a can of compressed air (designed for use with computers and electronic equipment). Blow the air through the encoder's card slot.
